Bangkok City it like a treasure trove for all those who dare to look for hidden valuables. The city I feel can adjust itself according to what you seek and want from it. If you want to play the tourist there are all the places and so called touristy things you can do. I decided to mix up my trip as I wanted to experience the best of both worlds, not to forgot to just unwind as it was pretty humid! I was on a food mission so I did find myself pigging out and trying various products in and around Sukhumvit Soi 39 and particularly where I was staying it was a Japanese-American-Thai populated area.
A fabulous Japanese bakery just beside the condominium and a bare 5 minutes walk across the road a stupendous Japanese Super store chain- Fuji Supa, not to forgot the iconic 7 Eleven Bangkok convenient stores where I bought much of my essentials to my 4G Tourist Sim card for 7 days which was the best deal for me. 7 Eleven is also your best bet for some crazy (some not!) delicious varieties of snacks, junk food and fast food, a must visit for anyone in the city.
If you've already discovered some of Bangkok's incredible malls, if you can beat the heat you can walk a bit and take in the local sights and of course street food delights. Best time I would suggest is early morning or 5 pm on wards. Lucky for me the neighborhood is very pretty and filled with some amazing sights. One of the things I love about Bangkok and Thailand is that there is spirituality and food everywhere. I love the mini 'Wats'- Buddhist temples and mini shrines near the apartments, shops/malls, road sides and offices.
Also, I did make good use of the condominium amenities, I suggest whether you are staying at a really great hotel or apartment, make sure you get the best of the amenities that is part of the deal! I used the fitness center at Supalai Place for a long relaxing Sauna session and I couldn't swim due to my swollen ankle but I did enjoy floating about!
